Toshiba announces the first UWB-based solution aimed at the consumer market
2 August 2007The technology supposes high-speed data transmission and allows to establish wireless connection between Toshiba laptop and dock-station used for connection of the external monitor. On productivity UWB leaves far behind last generation interfaces, including Bluetooth and even WiFi, marks Gadgetell.com.
Unfortunately, at all doubtless pluses of the new technology, this development is not deprived of serious lacks. Devices, between which connection is established, should be on a distance no more than a meter from each other. Besides, exploitation of radio frequencies, used for data transmission, is forbidden in a number of the countries.
Besides, UWB-based solution can not be accessible in terms of a price. Price of a dock-station makes 500 dollars, and “business class” Toshiba laptop (for example, one of R400 representatives) will cost at least 3000 dollars.
