The pocket translator will teach Japanese

8 October 2007

Companies Sharp and IBM have presented the English-Japanese translator with the function of speech recognition. The device similar in appearance to a pocket computer, works simply. If you have arrived to Japan, speak only English and need urgently to learn something from local people, you will need only to say the question in a microphone of the translator, then the device will repeat your phrase, but already in Japanese language.

Unfortunately, it is unknown, whether it is possible to expand the lexicon of «speaking iron». The novelty should appear on sale by the end of the current year at the price of about $500. Probably, on the base of the announced translator, manufacturers, in case of success, will create also multilingual versions.
