TVs: Samsung shares plans for the future
30 October 2007During an exhibition FPD International 2007 in Japan official Samsung Electronics’ representatives have shared the plans for the future with journalists.
EE Times Asia informs, referring to the head of Samsung LCD division Lee Sang-Wan, the company does not exclude the possibility of construction of own factory on manufacture of LCD-panels of 10-th generation. Mr. Lee has noted, is possible, that this factory will produce mainly 70 inches-panels and is higher. In September the company has already started mass production of 70-inch LCD-panels at its factory in Seoul, but capacities are enough only for production of 100 panels in a month.
Let’s remind that Sharp has already decided to build the “10-th generation” factory and invests more than $3 billion. But Sony, for example, has refused construction of such factory, motivating it by uncertainty of demand in the market.
As to OLED TVs, Samsung plans to start the production in 2010, informs edition Reg Hardware.
