New generation of Solid-State Disks
12 November 2007Company Samsung has presented the new generation of 64 GB Solid-State Disks (SSD) based on 50-nano-meter 8 GB single-level flash-memory microchip, informs DailyTech.
Technologies, which are the base for new generation of stores, provide, according to developers, data reading speed from the device in 120 MB per second and recording speed at a level of 100 MB per second. Though earlier similar Samsung products had almost twice lower data transmission parameters.
In the company inform, that new stores will be produced in two forms-factors - 1,8-and 2,5-inch. They are believed to enter the market in 2008.
SSDs differ from usual hard disks in the greater speed of reading and data recording due to use NAND flash-memory modules, as a data carrier. Besides, SSD are firmer against external damages.
