Mobiles phone: “Super 3G” approaches

In 2012 almost 1,5 billion cellular phones will be sold throughout the world, and the most marketable devices will be “Super 3G” which will support HSDPA, HSUPA, HSOPA and other newest technologies in the networks of the third and the subsequent generations. In 5 years such phones will take 35,8 % of all mobile market while in 2007 their amount will make only 1,8 %. Such are the data of a recent research made by Informa Telecoms && Media.

According to analysts, within the last six years mobile phones market has doubled. In 2006 about 975 million phones has been sold. But since 2007 the market growth will be slowed down. It is expected, that Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) will make in the nearest 5 years approximately 5,6 %. At that the psychological mark in 1 billion of sold phones will be overcome this year. According to analysts’ calculations, in 2007 will be sold about 1,1 billion cellular telephones. The given number coincides with Gartner’s forecast published last November.
