Nokia patents new technology of slider’s opening

28 November 2007

Nokia develops a new way of mobile phone’s opening with side displacement of the display (so-called Sidekick).

Unlike existing solutions, for example, communicators HTC Shift or TyTN II, in Nokia’s concept the display doesn’t need all surfaces above the keyboard. At the left and to the right of it there are free areas. The area on the right represents the handle which raises the display and fixes it in the necessary position. Such design looks more reliable than those used now. Besides the device with such design is easier for holding in the left hand, while right one can be used for typing.

Let’s remind, that not so long ago the Finnish giant has informed about addition in 2008 in platform S60 of touch displays. According to informal data, Nokia with the touch screen can appear already in the first half of the next year.
