Fujitsu promises 320 GB winchester for laptops by February

Fujitsu has announced 320-GB HDD for laptops which is expected to be put on sale in February, 2008, informs Reg Hardware.

Winchester MHZ2 BH weights about 100 g, is equipped with 8 MB of buffer storage and SPI SATA with throughput in 3 Gbit/second.

HDD is capable to carry load impact in 900g in the switched - off status and 325g - in the active status. During functioning the winchester consumes 1,8 watt, in standby mode - three times less, and only 0,13 watt – in a sleep mode. Price of the novelty was not informed. Except for a model with 320 GB, MHZ2 BH line will include winchesters with the smaller volume, from 40 GB.

Let’s note that Western Digital has already started sales of portable winchesters of the given capacity. Cost of a disk makes $200.
