Samsung TVs with contrast 500000:1 have appeared in the USA
7 December 2007South-Korean manufacturer Samsung Electronics has started sales of new LCD HD TVs with dynamic picture contrast 5000:1, 25000:1, 100000:1 and even 500000:1 in the largest trading US’s networks, informs DigiTimes. In the company mark, that new models have improbable definition quality, greater, than can offer TVs of the competitors.
Novelties are available with lengths of screen diagonals in 40, 46, 52 and 57 inches. To achieve so high contrast experts of the company have used Local Dimming technology. While working processor of the TV disconnects light-emitting diodes in dark sites of an image, reproducing ideally black color. Partial LED switching-off not only raises contrast, but also leads to reduction of the consumed electric power by 30 %. Brightness of matrixes makes 450 nit.
The manufacturer of the LCD-panels in these TVs is also Samsung. According to its representatives, similar panels will be soon available to other companies.
