Buffalo has announced 100 GB USB-drive
26 December 2007Company Buffalo informed about fast release of the new pocket USB-drive UHR100GS, which can contain up to 100 GB. The sizes of the device are comparable with a credit card, and the weight makes only 60 g, informs Engadget.
To achieve so high capacity the manufacturer had to take advantage of two different types of flash-memory: with one- and multilevel structure of cells. The device supports USB 2.0 interface and is equipped with TurboUSB technology, which increases information rate.
Cost of a novelty will make almost 108 thousand yens ($950). For those who are not able to give almost one thousand dollars for such a device, manufacturer will offer less capacious models with memory in 64 and 32 GB. Their cost will make $665 and $312, respectively. Besides one of these days the company has presented 32 GB flash-card at a price of about $300.
It is not known yet, whether these drives will be on sale somewhere beyond the bounds of Japan.
