USB 3.0 in Las Vegas
11 January 2008During the exhibition CES 2008 in Las Vegas, experts have presented for the first time slots and prototypes of USB 3.0 interface for data exchange, informs Engadget.
The new standard, for the first time declared last autumn, will allow to transmit information with a speed up to 600 megabyte per second. For comparison, previous USB version allowed to transmit up to 60 megabyte per second.
USB 3.0 it will be compatible with both USB 2.0, and USB 1.1, marks Register. USB 3.0 also supports Power Management Mode, not provided by the previous versions of the standard.
USB is the most widespread standard for connection of various devices to computers, including, a photo and video-cameras and flash-stores. The devices supporting USB 3.0 standard will appear only in 2010. The full specification of the new standard is expected to be ready by the end of June, 2008.
