Militarian SpyRobot

9 April 2008

Swiss company MacroSwiss with assistance of experts from the US Army works above the small six-wheel robot, which should be easy enough that one person could carry it, but at the same time - it should be large enough and strong “to drag” the various target equipment.
With such complex neither a lot of people, nor transport support “on behalf of” cars is required. The new robot can take special groups with it and the device can carry out various functions, depending on the established stuffing.
Before to tell about the new project, it is necessary to glance on its’ background. For the first time MacroSwiss has loudly declared about it in 2006 at the European exhibition-test of ground robots ELROB.
There the experts from the different countries exposed in “fighting conditions” of so-called Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV), that means various boats-cross-country vehicles, like those small wheel and caterpillar car, that already for a long time have been tested in Iraq, Afghanistan and other hot points.
Especially participants and visitors were amazed with tiny SpyRobot 4WD, equipped with four wheels of rather unusual kind. Their narrow and long “blades” served both for pushing the car through the dirt, grass and stones, and for creation of draft on water. Moreover, the device could without the slightest problems sustain a throw on 8,5-10 meters distance.
