MID - the first UMPC on the basis of new McCaslin platform works under OS Linux

Intel Company during the last Intel Developer Forum informed about work on the first device on the basis of newly-created McCaslin UMPC-platform.
Contrary to expectations, it won’t be classical laptop, but the portable device for the mobile Internet. Actually, the novelty is called - Mobile Internet Device (MID). Externally Intel device reminds large phone - slider. It is informed, that variants with 4,5- and 6-inch displays are being developed. It is possible to go to a world web, both through Wi-Fi, and by means of cellular networks 3G (HSDPA).
Despite of the binuclear processor Stealey, capable to cope with OS Windows Vista whims, Intel management has decided to set up specially developed version of OS Linux - RedFlag MIDINUX in MID. As the interface Gnome will be used, but with some completions from Intel side.
For the time being there is no even approximate information about the terms of entering the market.
