HTC has put into production Google Phone, which will appear in 2008

20 April 2007

Rumors about Google mobile phone appear with enviable frequency and regularity, but this time the information is almost official. The known Taiwan mobile equipment manufacturer, company High Tech Computer (HTC), has declared putting into production mobile phone under Google brand.
The manufacturer promises to produce a pilot lot already by the end of the current year, and mass production will begin in 2008. Representatives of the company do not inform about characteristics of the future model, but it is known, that the device will be based on a 3G-platform from Texas Instruments (TI) and will include set of Google-services. It is interesting, that the phone will not be equipped with GPS, module and, consequently, it can not be synchronized with well-known Google Maps.
Most likely, the phone from Google will use OS Windows Mobile, as HTC makes phones on this platform exclusively.
