1 May 2007

Nicolas Negroponte, the founder of the project “laptop to each child with its idea to provide with computers all children of Third World countries, has declared that starting laptops have risen in the price up to 175 US dollars.
Launch of the laptops` mass production is expected no earlier than October, 2007. Also Nicolas Negroponte assumes that the first purchase orders will come from Russia and Peru, and OLPC cost will fall by a quarter in a process of the project expansion.
The founder of the project has declared that OLPC will support Microsoft Windows. Let’s remind that earlier developers of the mentioned device have refused Microsoft production for the benefit of the open software.
