Mobiles phone - headache for the Japanese airlines

20 June 2007

Representatives of Nippon Airways appeal to passengers with the request to turn off temporarily their phones, and since July plan to place the special posters instructing passengers how to turn off their mobile phones.
But the problem is that many passengers do not remember a code necessary for blocking of automatic turning on of mobile phone and consequently can not turn off mobile devices before coming onboard.
Large airlines ANA and Japan Airline have discussed this problem with manufacturers of mobile devices, and now have the necessary tools, allowing them to remove the battery of phones directly onboard of an air vehicle, so now mobile phones can be switched - off even if the user has forgotten the code.
According to ANA’s representatives mobile phones did not cause any serious problems till now. But if passengers do not know how to disconnect their mobile device, they should necessarily inform the stewardess about it.
