The future for Linux

30 June 2007

Sales of devices with Linux as an updating of operational system by 2012 will reach 76 million units.
Research «Mobile Linux: introduction of open operational systems in smartphones and devices of middle class», has revealed, that the main problems which prevented the distribution of Linux commercial version are solved gradually, due to more close interaction between manufacturers and to introduction of full decisions such as GreenSuite from Trolltech and ALP from ACCESS.
However the mobile industry still needs to estimate all cost of the property rights for Linux, and also to create the common set of API-applications to save due to increase in volumes of manufacture by third companies.
New «Mobile Linux» research has shown, that as a whole the mobile industry for the present does not hurry to switch to Linux. Besides there is a number of problems which should be resolved before Linux proves itself as the true master of the market.
